With Minnesota's "Stay at Home" order expiring, being replaced with "Safer at Home", I want to take the opportunity to communicate what this means for Novation—and you.

As an essential business, Novation has been open during the entire state shutdown providing valuable service to our members. Although we have been forced to alter some of the ways we have traditionally delivered services, and many of our support staff have been working from home, for the most part we have been functioning very well. Our staff has remained safe and healthy and we are so thankful for the tremendous support and understanding of our members. Utilization of our convenient mobile app and digital tools has increased dramatically. In fact, we have experienced a 400% increase in first-time eDeposit users (taking a picture of a check with your phone). This option is very efficient and very secure.

Our lobbies will continue to be used on an appointment-only basis to facilitate:

  • Mortgage, home equity and consumer loan closings
  • Safe deposit box access
  • Joining Novation or opening new account relationships
  • Notary public signatures

And a variety of other items that are not easily handled over the phone or through a digital channel can be managed by a simple phone call. Be assured that we are following appropriate social distancing and sanitation safeguards with our staff and when we have members in the branches.

Novation, like so many other businesses, is taking a slow and phased approach to a broad re-opening of our lobbies as we continue to monitor guidance from the CDC and the MN Department of Health. As we look forward to the coming weeks and months, it does appear that our current operating model will be our new reality and we feel very fortunate that more than 90% of the business we do can be done using digital channels. Our staff is scheduling virtual video meetings so we can continue to know our members by more than just their name. Personal service has been a hallmark of Novation for over 65 years and we will do everything we can to protect that.
