If none of the other criteria apply to you, Novation membership is open to anyone who chooses to support the financial literacy and wellness focus of the Novation Foundation (minimum $10 donation).
Heartland Credit Union is now part of Novation Credit Union
Our merger with Heartland Credit Union was effective July 1, 2026. However, it will take us until the second half of 2027 to be fully integrated and running on the same platforms.
Until then, if you live in or near Hugo, Inver Grove Heights or New Prague, or work at Land O’Lakes and would like to utilize one of those legacy Heartland branches for in-person banking, we recommend joining our credit union via their website or at one of those branches. How do I apply for membership?
Eligible applicants may complete the online membership application, call us, or visit a branch in Oakdale or Hutchinson, MN.
Membership begins with a deposit of at least $5 into a Primary Savings account which is yours to withdraw should you ever discontinue your relationship with Novation.
You will need the following items to complete your membership application.
$5 minimum deposit
Government-Issued Identification
Driver’s License, State ID, or Passport with current address
Complete physical and mailing address
Social Security Number
Date of Birth

Earn $20 for you and the new referred member
Members who enjoy their Novation experience can spread the word and refer family members, colleagues, and others based on the membership eligibility outlined above. Both the referring and referred member will earn $20.*
Be sure to note the referring member’s name in the membership application.
*Offer valid 6/1/2026. New member must open a membership for referring and new member to receive $20. The referral bonus will be deposited into each Savings account within 30 days of account opening. Offer not valid for existing Novation memberships. Minimum $5 to open membership. Friend/Family Referral must be checked on membership application with Referral Name and City for pay out confirmation. Referring member must be in good standing. Referral and account opening bonus may be reported to IRS. Program details subject to change and cannot be combined with any other offer. New members only.
